On Your Mark

Upon receiving our official confirmation, we immediately placed our house on the market and began making preparations to go. We have now had two large “Moving Out of the Country” sales and sold all of our furniture and many of our “treasures”. It was been a very humbling experience to discover how much “stuff” two people can collect after 36 years of marriage and 20 of those in the same house! Even though the house has still not sold, we are continuing to move forward in faith, trusting God’s perfect timing.

We have dispersed some of our belongings among our family and friends and the rest we are packing in large crates Jeff built to house our boxes. These will be stored in a friend’s barn for the next three years.

We will be leaving on Sunday April 27 for Richmond, Virginia where will be attend two months of Field Personnel Orientation (FPO). We will return to Conyers for the month of July as we await the arrival of our second granddaughter before we depart for Kenya on July 30.

Present prayer requests include:
Calmness and focus for these hectic final days of packing up and moving out
Our hearts and minds to be prepared for the assignment God has given us
Our families during this time of separation
The sale of our home

Dear Jeff and Jan,

At times we felt as though we were only "twisting your arms" as much as being used by our Lord to urge you into a place of cross-cultural ministry. We will consider it an honor to serve with you folks in Central, Eastern, and Southern Africa. God is truly at work there.

It took only a few hours working with you in Zimbabwe to know that you folks had a special "gifting" that could be used in the position to which you go to Kenya.

It will also be our honor to be able to greet you in Nairobi when you arrive.

Your fellow Co-laborers in Christ,
Barry and Marleen
